Autumn, scenic landscape with fall colors at their peak. The maples are a mix of yellow and orange, along with the birch trees showing their leaves of yellow against the blue sky. I had driven by this site several mornings in a row, while driving to another site to paint, but something about this site always caught my eye, so I finally decided to paint it. The next morning I got up early and decided to paint it. I was there so early though, that I had to wait for the sun to burn off the fog. This turned out to be a great morning to do a painting, and I painted this on site (or using the popular french term en plein air).
Rick was born in St.Cloud Minnesota in 1958. He attended St Cloud State University and received a BFA in Fine Arts. Rick also minored in Aviation Technology while working towards his degree in Fine Arts. He joined the United States Air Force Reserve, and served for nine years giving him a chance to pursue his love of flying. Rick also flew commercially for many years and this gave him the opportunity to travel and see many parts of the world. Although he enjoys flying, Rick decided to continue his education in the field of art. This led him to attend The Minnesota River Valley School of Arts, where he took two years of portrait classes from the director Pat Jerde.
