This is a portrait of Lexy (the doberman) looking off to her right. She was our family's best friend and overall lap dog! Her favorite move was to walk up behind you and lean on you until you acknowledged her by petting her, which she would then really put her weight on you, almost knocking you over.
She also adopted all of the grandkids as her own, and would not let the adults chase them around playing, (she was extremely protective of them). We also tried to get her to play ball (fetch) and that's where this look came about. She would tip her head, (as I've portrayed in this drawing) while looking at you as if to say "you were the fool that threw the ball you go get it, I'm to dignified"!
Rick was born in St.Cloud Minnesota in 1958. He attended St Cloud State University and received a BFA in Fine Arts. Rick also minored in Aviation Technology while working towards his degree in Fine Arts. He joined the United States Air Force Reserve, and served for nine years giving him a chance to pursue his love of flying. Rick also flew commercially for many years and this gave him the opportunity to travel and see many parts of the world. Although he enjoys flying, Rick decided to continue his education in the field of art. This led him to attend The Minnesota River Valley School of Arts, where he took two years of portrait classes from the director Pat Jerde.
