Pot Hole Trail, St croix River
Artist
Rick Hansen
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
Winter view of the "pot hole trail" located in Interstate Park , Wisconsin, which is also part of the St Croix River National Scenic River way. I came across this scene right after a fresh snowfall and a couple of cross country skier's had gone down the trail. I was hoping that they did not go to far done the trail since it continues on very close to the edge of a cliff which overlooks the St Croix river. This was painted on site, or as the french called it in the 1800's (en plein air). This painting has been shown in several national juried shows, (like the Oil Painters of America for one).

Lovely inviting cross-country trail, Rich with a wonderful description. Love the blue tonal effect in the foreground leading toward the back .

Your winter paintings are the best of the best, Rick. I like how there are hints of green even though this is a snow scene. FAV
