Description
United States Air Force, Northrup T-38 Talon, which is one of America's primary (supersonic) jet trainers. It was the world's first supersonic trainer and also the most produced. The T-38 remains in service as of 2020 in several air forces. The United States Air Forces (USAF) operates the most T-38's. The first flight was 10 April 1959, and they have built 1,146 of them. Max speed is 857 mph (1,380 kph; 745 kts, with a service ceiling of 50,000 feet. All student pilots going through the USAF UPT (undergraduate pilot training program) flew the T37 and the T38 aircraft while earning their wings. I flew them both in 1984 while earning my wings. I went through my UPT course, and was based at Williams Air Force Base (which we all called Willy), located just outside of Phoenix Arizona. The base was decommissioned sometime ago, and now it's a civilian airfield called Williams Gateway Airport. I really enjoyed flying this airplane and so I did a couple of paintings of it (back in 1984) for myself and some friends that flew it as well. Even today its still a primary trainer for the United States Air Force!
